Zalando GmbH, Berlin
The head office of Zalando is located in a former transformer station in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg. Light, generously sized rooms in the distinctive, completely renovated brick building, create an inspiring atmosphere for employees from all over the world.
With the simple idea to sell shoes online instead of buying in the shops, Robert Gentz and David Schneider founded the online retailer Zalando in 2008 / Berlin. Today the company has come a long way and offers not only shoes, but also fashion, home-and-sporting goods, accessories and all of that in 14 European countries.
At the outset, while planning for the new corporate headquarters, it was very important to create a pleasant working environment for the mostly international staff.
In constructive cooperation with Zalando, Kusch + Co and deWinder architects,
a bench-system was developed and customized, based on the well-established product line m-pur. Planmöbel implemented fast and flexible numerous functional requirements, such as tool-free height-adjustment or the individual development of adaptive elements for the electrification.
Not only was the decision to work with planmöbel down to a high level of expertise in customizing, but also the well thought through logistical concept, developed in collaboration with long-term planmöbel partner Kusch + Co.
